How to Wear White Now And Next Season

What with Wimbledon fever and the seemingly never-ending wedding season, you’d be forgiven for thinking that wearing white was solely reserved for the summer months. But white shoes and bags are still big news for next season. Whether you’re partial to edgy, street wear inspired layers, slick tailored suiting or feminine dresses, a gleaming white shoe or piece of arm candy is an instant outfit elevator - and we’ve got the best of the bunch.

Ankle boots are always a prime focus here at Kurt Geiger HQ and a white is the ultimate transitional incarnation of this wardrobe staple. Our first foray into white ankle boot territory came in the form of our now iconic patent 'Strut' boot. Due to popular demand, it’s been reissued for autumn, along with a whole host of other heeled styles. Trust us - there’s something for everyone. Been inspired by fashion’s eighties revival? From Gucci’s glitzy leggings to Saint Laurent’s shoulder pad-ridden, leather LBD’s, the Dynasty vibe is back and we’re paying tribute to it via the 'Sparky' boot. A crisp white, kitten heeled number (ticking off another big trend), with multiple gold ring buckles and pearl studs that would make Madonna (circa Like A Virgin) proud. Other winning styles on the white ankle boot front include the 'Raven and Ride designs. The former is a nod to modern, architectural fashion, boasting the very slimmest of cylindrical heels and a super-soft leather finish. And the latter, a classic, sexy stiletto-style boot that works worn with cropped jeans by day and a daring dress by night (lurex tights optional).

White court shoes are sleeker than ever, too. Once a real party shoe, fit only for she who had wriggled into the very tightest of bandage dresses, a white heel is now the perfect companion for a chic trouser suit (a key look for AW17 according to the likes of Balenciaga, Celine and Moschino – enough said). Carvela’s 'Alice' has long been a best-seller for KG and now she comes in two frosty hues. First up, crisp plain white. The ultimate sassy court, they ooze a ‘don’t mess with me’ vibe. Second, a bold, deliciously unapologetic take on the white trend, complete with an ombre leopard print finish. Wear with grey suiting and watch your colleagues’ jaws hit the floor.

It may be that a power heel isn’t for you. But this doesn’t mean you can’t work a white shoe. Enter the box fresh sneaker; the easy-to-wear wardrobe essential that works with everything from cosy knits and midi skirts to cigarette pants and pussy-bow blouses. Heck, models and the Dolce & Gabanna AW17 show were wearing theirs with eye-wateringly tight black corset dresses and, wait for it, gold crowns. Viva l'Italia indeed! For a less high-fashion look, it’s all about studs, stars and stripes decorating your white trainers. Carvela’s 'Lax' and KG Kurt Geiger’s 'Lippy' have off-duty cool written all over them. And boys – we haven’t forgotten you. In fact, we’re actually a tad jealous of your athleisure picks for next season. We challenge you to wear the 'Malone' sneakers without being asked by passers’ by where you got them from. Contemporary and cool they can also be worn with a suit for a fresh take on smart-casual. The 'Valadez' and 'Donnie' styles are classic sporty lace-ups that never date and (genuinely) only improve with wear.
